Q. What do I need to get a library card?
A. To obtain a library card, you will need a photo ID with your current address. All Massachusetts residents are entitled to an East Longmeadow Public Library card. There is no charge for a library card. Lost or misplaced cards will be issued after showing proper identification and paying a $2.00 charge. Library patrons who are issued a card for the first time have the option of a standard credit card size card or a new key tag library card.
Q. What if the library is closed and I want to return my books?
A. The library has a book and media return drop that you can use after hours. It is located at the front entrance to the library.
Q. Can I return my books to another library?
A. Yes, materials may be returned to any C/W Mars library regardless of where they were borrowed.
Q. How much is the overdue fine for a DVD?
A. The overdue fine for DVDs is $1.00 per day. For more information about daily fines click here.
Q. How do I renew a book?
A.You may renew a book, DVD, CD etc. by either coming to the library, calling us at (413) 525-5400, ext.1511 or by accessing your account online. To learn how to access your account online click here.
Q. Does my library card expire?
A. Library cards are valid for a two year period and must be renewed in person at the library. You may be asked to provide photo identification and proof of address.
Q. How can I recommend that the library purchase a book?
A. Please use our online Suggestion Box.
Q. Does the library lend museum passes?
A. Museum passes are available to library patrons who are members of the Friends of the Library. If you would like to become a member, stop by the Circulation Desk.
Q. Can I make photocopies at the library?
A. A color photocopier is available on the second floor. Color copies are 25 cents per page.
A black and white photocopier is available on the first floor. Black and white copies are 15 cents each.
Q. Can I scan documents at the library?
A. Scanning documents to email is available using the color photocopier. There is no charge for scanning.
Q. Can I send and/or receive a fax at the library?
A. At this time, faxing is not available at the library.
Q. Can I donate my books to the library?
A. Yes. We will happily accept donated materials that are in good condition. The Friends of the Library hold a yearly book sale in April as well as an ongoing book sale.
Q. How do I sign my child up for story-time?
A. Story times, special workshops, book groups, summer reading programs, and so much more are offered free of charge in the Children’s Department. Check out our program page and calendar.
Q. Does the library have tax forms?
A. Yes, the library provides the most frequently requested federal and Massachusetts tax forms. We also provide links on our website to federal and Massachusetts tax forms that can be downloaded and printed for $.15/page.
