For those scholarships we were not able to verify for the upcoming school year, we have kept the information we have from past years as possible sources. Don’t forget to check with your high school guidance office and/or your college financial aid office for additional opportunities.
East Longmeadow Garden Club ($1,000 scholarship)
For: E.L.H. resident who plans further education in the fields of Horticulture, Agriculture, Ecology, Environmental and Natural Sciences, Forestry, Conservation, Perma-culture/Agro-ecology, Landscape Architecture, Botany, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Protection, Nutrition, Oceanography or a related field.

East Longmeadow Scholarship Foundation
There are 2 applications—1 is general; one is for engineering & related sciences.A copy of h.s. or college transcript must accompany application. First year recipients are required to take part in annual door-to-door fundraiser.
For: E.L. resident accepted by or enrolled in an accredited college or technical school

Rotary Club of E.L.
For: E.L.H.S. seniors who live in E.L., even if they go to school in another town Eligibility for the culinary arts and entertainment fields scholarship extends to college students who are already enrolled in a program.

Berkshire Bank Foundation (14 $1,500 scholarships)
For: High School Seniors in Berkshire Bank Communities who have exemplified community service through their volunteer efforts, been successful academically, have a demonstrated financial need and who will be attending a two or four year college in the fall.
Deadline: Online submissions by March 26, 2014, 4:00 pm.

Beyond the Cure (National Children’s Cancer Society) (<$5,000)
For: Childhood cancer survivors under the age of 25 (diagnosed before the age of 18), U.S. citizens and accepted into an accredited educational institution in the fall of 2011

Big Y Scholarship Programs ($1,500)
For: High School Seniors, Undergraduates, Graduates, Community College and Non-Traditional Students whose permanent residence or school is located within western and central MA, Norfolk County, MA or the state of CT and Big Y employees and their dependents, regardless of residence. In addition, a unique series of eight scholarships are available specifically for dependents of law enforcement officers and firefighters. Scholarship applications are available October through January each year in all Big Y locations and can also be picked up at guidance offices of schools within Big Y’s market area.
Deadline: February 1 (Information on the application must be complete and all supporting documents postmarked by this date to be eligible. Incomplete applications will not be considered.)

Community Foundation of Western MA
The Foundation administers, through one centralized application process, scholarship and interest-free loan funds totaling ~$2,000,000 for both undergraduate and graduate studies. The average scholarship is about $1,780, and interest-free loans are available for up to $3,000. There is one Common Application for all scholarship and loan funds under its management. The online Community Foundation Application is required for consideration.
For: Residents of Hampden County or Hartford, CT with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher attending one of the local colleges listed on the web site. Each scholarship and loan fund has specific criteria which determine eligibility. There are funds to help students from a particular school or area, funds for people of specific ethnicity or religion, others those pursuing a specific field of study, and some for students who are most in need.

Dunkin’ Donuts Scholarship Fund ($1,000)
For: High school seniors in Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school. “Recipients will be selected on the basis of well-rounded character (positive academic record, demonstrated leadership, commitment to school and community activities, and experience in the work environment.” 50 $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Greater Boston P-Flag Elsie Frank Scholarship
For: h.s. seniors who have demonstrated leadership in improving their school’s climate for LGBT youth

Hampden County Improvement League (</$1,000)
For: h.s. seniors who have lived in Hampden County for at least 2 years, be good students and must show current or previous involvement in 4-H or be members of a farm family. The recipient will continue to receive the award throughout his/her postsecondary education.

Jewish Endowment Foundation of Western MA
There are 2 different funds available, with varying criteria.
For: Residents of Springfield, E.L., Longmeadow, Wilbraham, Hampden, Agawam or West Springfield
Massachusetts Broadcasters Association Scholarship ($2,000)
For: MA residents enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited two or four-year school with a major or intention of studying over-the-air broadcasting. All applications must be completed and mailed to the MBA at 43 Riverside Ave. PMB 401 Medford, MA 02155.

MassMutual Multicultural Scholarships
MassMutual Multicultural Scholarships (40 worth up to $20,000 each)
For: High achieving high school seniors interested in pursuing careers in business, financial services, or information technology through education and who reflect the rich cultural diversity of our nation. Requirements include demonstrated financial need, maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better and completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts.
Deadline: Applications must be received or postmarked by March 31, 2014.

Massachusetts Restaurant Association Scholarship
For: H.S. senior, graduate, college undergraduate or GED credential holder accepted to or enrolled in an accredited restaurant/foodservice related post-secondary program who is a U.S. citizen and MA resident with a minimum GPA of 2.65 with verified culinary or restaurant/foodservice work experience

Order Sons of Italy in America
Each year, the SIF offers 10 to 12 merit-based scholarships, ranging from $5,000 to $25,000.
For: U.S. citizens of Italian descent enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited four-year institution

Pioneer Valley Women’s Running Club
Athletic participation and achievement in track or cross country. Academic achievement, recommendation letter from coach, community service and additional school activities, intention to attend a two or four year degree granting college or university, essay.

Polish Junior League of MA, Inc.
For: Undergraduate scholarships are for people of Polish heritage with a permanent address in western MA who are in their second year or higher of an accredited college, university or diploma nursing school and have never received a scholarship from the PJL of MA; AND
For: Graduate OR Returning Non-Traditional female students of Polish heritage with a permanent address in western MA who are currently enrolled or accepted to a graduate degree program, OR a non-traditional student returning as an undergraduate student at an accredited institution
Deadline: All completed paperwork must be postmarked by 5/1/2014. Your school must supply an official first three semester college/university transcript, with seal, postmarked by 5/1/2014.

Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources Scholarship
Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholars Scholarship
For: Students eligible to enroll in and attend a two or four-year college with a full course of study who reside in a participating area. Students applying for the Hispanic scholarship must have at least one parent of Hispanic origin. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement, financial need and community involvement.

Stephen-Phillips Memorial Scholarship ($3,000-$10,000)
For: H.S. seniors and returning college students attending accredited U.S. colleges or universities who are residents of New England

Valley Press Club Scholarships ( $1,000)
For: High school seniors in western MA and northern CT planning careers in journalism who will attend accredited institutions of higher education. Primary emphasis is placed on career goals, writing ability, scholastic aptitude and overall achievement as measured by an applicant’s h.s. transcript, class rank, academic awards, SAT scores, and extracurricular activities.
