What do I need to get a library card?

To obtain a library card, you will need a photo ID with your current address. All Massachusetts residents are entitled to an East Longmeadow Public Library card. There is no charge for a library card. Lost or misplaced cards will be issued after showing proper identification and paying a $2.00 charge. Library patrons who are issued a card for the first time have the option of a standard credit card size card or a new key tag library card.

What if the library is closed and I want to return my items?

The library has a book and media return drop that you can use after hours. It is located at the front entrance to the library.

Can I return my items to another library?

Yes, materials may be returned to any C/W Mars library regardless of where they were borrowed.

What are the fines for overdue items?

The East Longmeadow library does not charge overdue fines on items that we own. There is a charge for lost or damaged materials. Items that are owned by other libraries that are checked out at the East Longmeadow library may have fines charged by the owning library.

How do I renew an item?

You may renew a book, DVD, CD etc. by either coming to the library, calling us at (413) 525-5400, ext.1511 or by accessing your account online. To learn how to access your account online click here.

Does my library card expire?

Library cards are valid for a two year period and must be renewed in person at the library. You may be asked to provide photo identification and proof of address.

How can I recommend that the library purchase a book?

Please give your recommendation to any staff member.

Does the library lend museum passes?

Museum passes are funded by the Friends and are available to patrons of the East Longmeadow Public Library.  To borrow a museum pass, patrons must have a CWMARS library card in good standing (no billed items or fines over $10.00).  Passes are loaned for 3 days and are not renewable.  Late fees for museum passes are $1.00 per day.  Passes cannot be reserved.  They are available on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Can I make photocopies at the library?

A color photocopier is available on the second floor. Color copies are 25 cents per page. A black and white photocopier is available on the first floor. Black and white copies are 15 cents each.

Can I scan documents at the library?

Scanning documents to email is available using the color photocopier. There is no charge for scanning.

Can I send and/or receive a fax at the library?

It is now possible to send a fax at the library. The charge is $1.00 per page. It is not possible to receive a fax at the library.

Can I donate my books to the library?

Yes. We will happily accept donated materials that are in good condition. The Friends of the Library have an ongoing book sale located on the first floor of the library.

How do I sign my child up for story-time?

Story times, special workshops, book groups, summer reading programs, and so much more are offered free of charge in the Children’s Department.

Does the library have tax forms?

Yes, the library provides the most frequently requested federal and Massachusetts tax forms. We also provide links on our website to federal and Massachusetts tax forms that can be downloaded and printed for $.15/page.
