About our Story Times:

We run three 5 – 7 week story time sessions (Fall, Winter, Spring).
The first day of registration is for East Longmeadow residents only; the second day of registration is open to everyone.
On registration day, we begin at 9:30am in person and 10am by phone or email. 
Registration is for the full 6-7 week session.  
Register early as story times fill up quickly.

For Infants to Age 2

Books and Babies!  Drop in to this story time for our youngest patrons. Pathways for Parents sponsors this program of fingerplays, stories and movement along with free play. Parenting information is also available. Mondays at 10:30am, just drop in! Check the Events List in the sidebar for the most current details.

Shake, Rattle & Read!  This story time is geared for the youngest patrons and filled with fingerplays, music, movement and more! Learn tips and tricks to have a fulfiling reading time with your baby.
Birth to 18mos – Fridays at 9:45am, sign up required.
18mos to 2-1/2years – Fridays at 10:45am, sign up required.

For 2 to 6 year olds

Tike Time
for ages 2 to 3-1/2 with a caregiverTuesdays at 10:30am OR Wednesdays at 10:30am.
Youngsters with their caregivers enjoy age-appropriate stories, music, movement, and a special craft. *Registration is required for the full 6-7 week session. 

Pajama Night Story Time
for ages 3 to 6.
Tuesdays at 6:30pm.
Children enjoy a special story time filled with age-appropriate stories, music, movement, and a special craft. Caregivers have the option of participating. Sessions run 6-7 weeks. This is a drop-in story time and does not require registration.

Discover Stories and More!
for ages 3 to 6.
Mondays at 1pm OR
Thursdays at 10:30am.                                        
A story and activity time for ages 3 to 6. Stories, songs and STEAM-related crafts will help children develop listening and learning skills. Caregivers have the option of joining in the fun. *Registration is required for the full 6-7 week session.

For 5 to 12 year olds

Book discussion groups for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade:

Kindergarten Klub – a fun introductory book group for kindergarten children.  The children read (on their own or with help) the selected book, then come for fun, games, and sharing ideas. Meets once a month at 4:30pm. Check the Events List in the sidebar for the most current details.

Book Buddies (Grade 1) – Specifically for children in Grades 1, the group will read in advance an early reader selection (with help as necessary). We meet to share ideas, play games and activities, and have fun. Meets one Monday a month at 4:30pm. Check the calendar link for the most current details.

Bookworms (Grade 2 ) – Children in Grade 2 read in advance a beginning chapter book that is sometimes silly, sometimes fantastical, and always interesting! We meet and share ideas about the book, play games and have fun!  Meets once a month at 4:30pm. Check the calendar link for the most current details.

Chapter Book Champs (Grades 3 & 4) – sThis book group is for kids who love to read short chapters books that are entertaining and just plain good.  We laugh, share thoughts about the book, play games, and have a snack. Meets once a month at 4pm. Check the calendar link for the most current details.

Bookbusters (Grades 4 & 5) – This group reads in advance a chapter book that is a little bit longer, a little bit more complex, but is always engaging! We get together once a month at 4pm and have a great time talking and laughing about the book and having fun. Check the calendar link for the most current details.

The Night Shift (Grades 6 and up) –  A kid’s night out!  We meet once a month at 6:30pm to share our favorite new read along with some fun games and activities. Check the calendar link for the most current details.

More programs!

We have a variety of other programs including:

Chess Club – for Kindergarten – 8th grade.  Best for those with some chess knowledge.  Meets weekly on Wednesdays @ 4pm.

Reading Therapy Dogs – We have reading therapy dogs visit the library. Trained to be patient listeners, these dogs help beginning, reluctant readers gain reading confidence.
