Located on the second floor, the library has a Local History Room with items pertaining to the town’s history. Members of the EL Historical Commission are available by appointment to assist patrons with their research including family genealogy, information on old homes and businesses in town, school projects and general town history. Ancestry Library Edition
This genealogy resource delivers billions of records in census data, vital records, directories, photos, and more on individuals from North America, the UK, Europe, Australia through more than 7,000 available databases. Ancestry is available in the library only.

Heritage Quest (in-house)                    Heritage Quest (remote)
This collection consists of U.S. Federal Censuses from 1790 through 1930; genealogy and local history books from over 28,000 family histories, Periodical Source Index (PERSI), an index to periodicals of more than 2 million records of titles published since 1800.
Remote access is possible with an East Longmeadow library card.

Digital Commonwealth is a non-profit collaborative organization that provides resources and services to support the creation, management, and dissemination of cultural heritage materials held by Massachusetts libraries, museums, historical societies, and archives.
